Fashion glossies are finally giving women over 50 some attention at the newsstands. Allure gave up its September cover to 72-year-old Helen Mirren, Vogue Italia dedicates its October offering to mature women (starring a 73-year-old Lauren Hutton) and US ELLE just tapped 92-year-old Cicely Tyson to star on one of the annual ‘Women In Hollywood‘ covers for November 2017. Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, Jessica Chastain, Tessa Thompson, Laura Dern, Riley Keough and Kathleen Kennedy also join in the festivities, each going solo on their respective covers, photographed by ELLE regular Terry Tsiolis.

Prior to Cicely’s cover reveal, our forum members weren’t here for ELLE’s latest. “How many ‘Women in Hollywood, TV or Music’ issues do they have per year? It feels like every other month a themed issue comes out and these are just meh,” said an underwhelmed kokobombon.
“Same background, different women. How original. That layout is tragic,” slated MON.
“I hope Nina Garcia re-energizes this dead magazine. It’s all one big repetitive bore,” voiced GivenchyHomme.
Members of our forum soon changed their tune. “Cicely’s cover is fantastic! I can’t believe this woman is 92 years old. A home run from ELLE with this. Laura is a close second, she looks way hotter than J.Law and Margot!” exclaimed Marc10.
“Cicely Tyson is an ICON. So cool to see her on the cover of a fashion magazine after all of these years. Love her!” heralded mepps.
“Bam, just like that ELLE outdid all the other fashion glossies by putting a 92-year old on the cover without any contrived ‘age’ tags. Cicely Tyson really impressed me with her House of Cards performance, definitely worthy of this lineup. Love the diversity in age and experience here,” Benn98 approved.
Echoing the same sentiments was TaylorBinque. “I don’t mind the issue and all the covers at all because there is Cicely Tyson! That woman is an icon. Even worthy of all women’s magazines. The range of diversity and talent for these covers is really great,” she championed.
