We called it: Gigi Hadid is back on the cover of Vogue Japan for the third time, just one month after sister Bella’s appearance on the Japanese fashion bible, making a total of five Vogue Japan covers between them. For June 2018, Gigi is once again captured by photographic duo Luigi & Iango and styled by Julia von Boehm throughout the accompanying black and white cover story. Fresh from the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, Gigi gives us subtle femme fatale vibes with slicked-back hair, a bold red lip and a black leather Céline coat worn off the shoulder.
According to our forum members, the third time is not a charm. “What a weak cover. I love Gigi, but this is so bad. Plus, how many times have we seen this already?” questioned guimon the moment the cover struck.
“The cover looks more like Vogue Germany, and what happened to her face?” MDNA asked.
“If ever ‘Gigi fatigue’ needed a representative image, here you have it! What’s with her expression? This is very unlikely for Luigi & Iango. And two Hadids back to back? There must be other models to cover!” Benn98 ranted.

Sharing the same sentiments was gunsnroses. “Luigi & Iango have clearly run out of ideas. I can’t differentiate any of their Kendall or Gigi shoots anymore. It’s always the same styling, posing etc.”
GivenchyHomme agreed, writing, “This cover is a flop and the blame is not on Gigi, but on the team. Look at that horrible lighting! She looks washed out! Whoever did the makeup did not do a good job balancing out that red lip, or anything else really. The hair is crispy and flat. The coat is too dark and heavy for a summer cover.”
“Flat. She looks over it, and Luigi & Iango are one-trick ponies without a doubt, occasionally their Mert & Marcus photocopying (oh the irony of copycats copying the original copycats!) pans out in decent results but not here!” Fiercification chimed in.
“She looks tired of having her picture taken. Perhaps it’s time to take that long hiatus because quite frankly, I’m also tired of seeing her,” voiced Ken Doll Jenner.
