Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington Disappoint on the September Covers of Vogue Paris

Is Emmanuelle Alt about to ditch the 1980s in favor of the 1990s? It’s sure starting to look that way as she secures a trio of 90s supermodels for Vogue Paris’ special ‘Légendes de Mode’ issue for September 2018. While most other editions of Vogue have resorted to giving us celebrities this month, we can always rely on the French fashion bible to showcase models for what is considered the magazine’s most important fashion issue of the year. Kate Moss (channeling Marilyn Monroe) and Naomi Campbell (giving major Tina Turner vibes) were photographed by Mikael Jansson, while Christy Turlington was captured by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh for a simple black and white portrait.

Despite everyone involved, the covers proved underwhelming to our forum members. “This is bad!” declared zacatecas570 once the cover dropped.

“So disappointed. That Kate Moss image is hideous, it looks inspired by those awful Marilyn Monroe’s Bern Stern images, that already have been used (what hasn’t?) as template for other editorials. Naomi’s cover is slightly better, but she is just a caricature now, her image is totally sterile, I cannot get excited about anything she in,” ranted Les_Sucettes.

“A big disappointment,” said Valentine27.

Also not feeling the outcome was LastNight: “I’ve been really missing Kate and got so excited when I saw the thread title, but her cover is just awful! Why on earth did they approve that shot with that expression? Really disappointed because I love both Mikael and Kate, it should have been a stunning combination.”

“Love to see Naomi and Christy on VP but these covers are a total let-down. These are really the best shots they could come up with?” asked 333101.

“These covers are such a waste,” said orchidee, sharing the same sentiments as everyone else.

Fiericification wasn’t here for it either. “Christy’s is a bit dull… I’m getting a bit bored of her by I&V now. It was a dynamic pairing in the Noughties but has passed its sell-by date now. And speaking of…Kate’s cover? Not bad but really forgettable,” he pointed out.

“How disappointing. They could’ve done better with the cast,” echoed Your Anchor.
