Our forums have been pretty much #TeamDonatella since she decided to ditch Bruce Weber and bring aboard Steven Meisel to shoot Versace’s advertising campaigns. The legendary lensman (and firm forum favorite) delivered supermodel splendor for Spring 2018 but fell slightly out of favor for Fall 2018’s “unimaginative” campaign featuring 54 models. Meisel’s latest is for the brand’s new Eros Flame fragrance, starring Gigi Hadid and Salomon Diaz (who replace Lara Stone and Brian Shimansky).

The campaign images generated mixed feedback from our forum members. “Wow, this is awful! Everything looks so cheap, over-rehearsed and tacky. What’s up with Meisel’s work for Versace? It’s embarrassing to think his H&M x Moschino campaign was not only better, but more Versace than Versace!” slammed Benn98.
“I would have never guessed this was shot by Meisel. Looks so basic and cheap, I can’t even,” guimon added.
“Looks cheap. Perhaps it’s the white background,” said Scotty.

“The first shot definitely feels more Versace than any of those Dylan Blue fragrance campaigns Bruce Weber shot, so I can appreciate this Meisel shoot for all its simplicity and glamour. Am I bowled over by the outcome? No… but I’ll take it!” said vogue28.
Also liking what they saw was forum member badgalcrush: “The image itself is STUNNING, I absolutely love it and love this Hadid-Diaz duo!”
“Salomon is the new Versace man, love it,” applauded jeremydante.
