Vogue Germany December 2018 : Anja Rubik by Giampaolo Sgura

Anja Rubik Models Your Grandma’s Rug on Vogue Germany’s December Cover

The past year has been very hit or miss for Vogue Germany. It kickstarted 2018 with a terrific Gigi Hadid offering followed by a series of questionable covers starring the likes of Birgit Kos, Luna Bijl, Othilia Simon, Charlotte Casiraghi and Anna Ewers. The German fashion bible did redeem itself last month with a lovely Edita Vilkeviciute cover, but now takes a step back with a lackluster offering for December 2018. The publication plummets Anja Rubik into freezing cold temperatures, bundled up in Bottega Veneta (styled by Christiane Arp) while photographed by Giampaolo Sgura.

When the cover dropped, our forum members couldn’t quite believe their eyes. “Sorry but it looks fan-made! It´s very amateur, from the photo to the fonts and layout and altogether it’s not working for me at all,” stated Bertrando3.

“Nothing works. It doesn’t even look like Anja,” mikel chimed in.

“No, c’mon. How do you select that cover image? The asymmetry in her eyes is so glaring,” pointed out youarearockstar.

“Hey, that’s why my grandma’s rug is missing!” mocked dodencebt.

Also keen to shade the styling was MON: “Where the f is the FASHION? Where’s the glamour? Where’s VOGUE? She looks like she purchased a rug on Target and wore it around her head. Home couture. The hobo lewk is not back. This magazine is just dated!”

“This is just ugly. A waste of Anja,” Valentine27 said.

“LOL! WTF is this! What a horrible year this was for them, I feel like VG really had terrible covers,” added Miss Dalloway.
