US Vogue January 2019 : Priyanka Chopra by Annie Leibovitz

Priyanka Chopra Becomes the First Indian Woman to Star on the Cover of Vogue

The wedding of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jones has been a major topic of conversation this week — and Vogue is making sure we’ll still be talking about it come January. Earlier this week, the magazine put the newlyweds on its first-ever digital cover to mark the occasion (which ultimately bombed on our forums) and now we aren’t at all surprised to see Priyanka go solo on Vogue‘s print edition for January 2019. A far cry from the juvenile digital offerings, Priyanka gets the Vogue cover treatment she deserves with a rich-looking Annie Leibovitz-shot image as she becomes the first Indian woman ever to grace the magazine in its 125-year history. Styled by Tonne Goodman, the actress sits pretty in a nude-toned Tom Ford dress, her hair pulled back into an effortless chignon and a sultry red lip.

“Well, VERY happy with the final result. Digital cover may be trite, but this is a classic US Vogue cover. Love the rich, warm tones for January, and her hair looks effortless yet great,” Benn98 approved at once.

“After all the comings and goings, I gotta’ say that I love the print cover… specially the color scheme,” confessed kokobombon.

Also sharing enthusiasm toward the cover was forum member Blayne266: “Wonderful classic American Vogue cover featuring a new face! I’m glad it isn’t the wedding dress but instead this sultry Tom Ford number.”

“Give credit where credit is due. This is stunning. One of the best January covers I’ve seen from them. It’s quintessential US Vogue,” MON said.

TZ001 couldn’t have agreed more: “Finally, a stunning, beautiful and classical cover. Priyanka is powerful and heavenly. Totally love this!”

“In love with this cover. An Indian beauty on the cover of an American Vogue. Hard to believe it has actually happened. Despite the cover girl being Mrs. Jonas, it is nice to see someone different on a cover of American Vogue. Goosebumps. Good start Vogue,” jeffandtheworld applauded.

“I love that cover. After the digital debacle, this is a moment when print doesn’t disappoint,” rejoiced tigerrouge.
