Vanity Fair May 2019 : Nicole Kidman by Collier Schorr

Nicole Kidman’s Vanity Fair Cover Gets Mixed Reviews

It’s safe to assume we’re not the biggest advocates of Vanity Fair under Radhika Jones. She kick-started her tenure with Jennifer Lawrence back in 2018 and only managed to capture our attention with the title’s annual Hollywood issue. After an uneventful Beto O’Rourke offering last month, Vanity Fair is back doing what it does best. The mag profiles none other than Nicole Kidman for May 2019 serving us major retro glam. Photographed by Collier Schorr and styled by Samira Nasr, the actress sports a slicked-back hairstyle and a statement lip, both perfectly complemented by a Prada dress and diamonds from Chopard and Tiffany & Co.

In the eyes of some of our forum members, however, the cover was another setback for Vanity Fair. “It’s something about the hair that ruins it,” said mikel the second the cover dropped.

“Man, it really bugs me how often they ruin Nicole on covers these days, especially since she is so incredibly photogenic!” added Miss Dalloway.

“Looking bloated, did she do something again or is it Photoshop?” asked Nymphaea.

“Her face looks bloated as hell. Not sure if it’s Photoshop or fillers. Terrible picture of a beautiful woman,” mepps declared.

Also unable to give praise was Benn98: “The Photoshopping is criminal and overall the cover just leaves me cold.”

“I can appreciate them trying something different, but this misses the mark for me,” admitted lelaid.

“Half of her face looks beautiful, half looks oddly Photoshopped and bloated. I do like the color scheme, especially for a May issue it feels a bit different and I think the colors will pop on newsstands,” reasoned KINGofVERSAILLES.

In the same frame of mind was vogue28: “A vast improvement from recent Vanity Fair covers and I am all for seeing Nicole Kidman. I do like how old-school the cover feels, the muted red background teamed with the white fonts and the retro-glam styling…”
