It’s still business as usual over at Vogue Japan as the publication powers through the global health crisis by delivering pre-pandemic content. Last month there was a standard multi-girl cover and this month sees the return of Kendall Jenner. Four years after her last appearance, the American beauty is back on Japanese Vogue for July 2020 captured under the warm Miami sunshine by photographer Giampaolo Sgura. For the cover image, the current face of Longchamp sports a look from the brand’s Spring 2020 collection selected by stylist Elissa Santisi.
The outcome failed to thrill our forum members. “Looks at newsstand: A blank white cover or Kendall? Picks blank cover,” commented A.D.C. the moment the cover dropped.
“Is anyone trying? It’s crazy to know an entire team created this. I’ve seen catalog shoots have more ‘positive energy’,” voiced Gabriel29.
“I seriously laughed out loud when the cover revealed itself on my screen. What an awful cover…I can’t believe they went with this. This must be a joke, especially with the ‘positive energy’ tagline,” echoed bluestar.

In complete agreement was kokobombon: “Is this sarcasm? That tagline with that expression and pose? Is Vogue Japan trolling us?”
Benn98 wasn’t impressed, either. “Yikes, terrible styling, modeling, photography, everything is wrong here!”
“I feel as though I’m often defending Kendall, but this is indefensible. ZERO effort and energy. She looks like a pouting child being forced to take a picture while on family vacation,” added KINGofVERSAILLES.
