Change is definitely in the air over at Versace as the brand continues to change campaign photographers. We’ve already seen Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Arnaud Lajeunie, Harley Weir and Steven Meisel shoot ads for the Italian fashion house. Now Alasdair McLellan joins the list with the unveiling of its Pre-Fall 2021 campaign. Vittoria Ceretti, Rianne Van Rompaey, Sora Choi, Fernando Lindez, Simone Bricchi along with Raphael Balzer are captured outdoors for the series of ads.
Nevertheless, most of our forum members are not fans. “What is this? Michael Kors? Donatella darling, I need you to pick up the phone and call Steven Meisel and Irina Shayk ASAP,” commented THD96.
“To me this is more Tommy Hilfiger or something equally lowbrow/unimaginative, very rich high school kids taking pictures in someone’s private garden…” describes an unforgiving YohjiAddict.
“This is so freakin’ cheap and dumb. This brand is so clueless now,” declared a clearly annoyed dior_couture1245.

“A truly underwhelming Versace advertising campaign… Not that I mind McLellan’s aesthetic, but this fails to scream Versace and the humongous tree distracts from the clothes,” states vogue28.
“I can’t relate McLellan to Versace and I really hope this direction doesn’t stick,” aracic chimed in.
Not everyone felt the same way, however. “I like this a lot. Especially the cast. It’s simple but beautiful and kind of romantic. Versace doesn’t always have to be about sex/sexy,” notes an obviously pleased guimon.
“This is beautifully shot,” admired Joromana.
