Tracee Ellis Ross Fronts InStyle’s First Digital-Only Edition for Spring 2022

We don’t know where you’ve been if you don’t know that InStyle has dropped its print edition. (Gigi Hadid‘s cover for March 2022 was the title’s last print offering.) There’s zero denying the fact that Laura Brown propelled the magazine to new heights by dropping stunning covers featuring Zendaya, Andra Day, Kerry Washington, Elle Fanning, Julianne Moore, Ciara…the list goes on and on. For its first digital outing, InStyle welcomes back Tracee Ellis Ross as cover star captured by photographic duo AB+DM. The American actress dons an Alaïa Spring 2022 hooded denim look chosen by Karla Welch for the cover image.

Members of our forums are conflicted. “I love Tracee, great actress and I was excited until I saw that belt and that it wasn’t a big dress. The outfit only works around her head…” remarked Bertrando3.

“A denim jumpsuit and the expression don’t really work for spring…” Urban Stylin chimed in.

“Denim never looks sophisticated. Trying to style it that way is silly,” disapproved dfl-001.

“I hate that Alaïa look. And I really don’t care for Tracee. She comes across as so smug. She acts like she is an icon. Your mother is an icon, Tracee, but you are not. And she really does not have style,” declared dior_couture1245.

“I do like Tracee, but lately her magazine appearances and especially red carpet choices have been extremely underwhelming,” KINGofVERSAILLES pointed out.

But not everyone shared the same sentiment. “Love the Alaïa look and I think it really matches InStyle to be honest…” reasoned Dion Chan.

“Absolutely love that denim Alaïa look, very much a 2022 answer to Grace Jones from James Bond’s A View to a Kill, quite obsessed with it to be honest. Never been one for Tracee Ellis Ross, but that Alaïa is just selling me this over and over again. Zero complaints!” raved vogue28.
