Vogue Italia May 2022 : Joan Smalls by Cho Gi-Seok

Joan Smalls Strikes a Pose on Vogue Italia’s Artistic May 2022 Cover

Francesca Ragazzi has now been at the helm of Vogue Italia for exactly eight months. So far her tenure has been a mix of hits and misses. The Italian fashion bible’s head of editorial content has welcomed Chiara Ferragni as cover star, shared Lady Gaga with British Vogue, landed the fierce and fabulous Donatella Versace and featured Vittoria Ceretti on last month’s edition. Now 10 years after her first appearance, Joan Smalls pops up on the publication for May 2022. The Puerto Rican beauty and current face of Boss wears a mesh top from Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2022 collection and a pair of red Wolford tights in the cover image shot by Cho Gi-Seok.

The cover caused quite a stir among our forum members. “Why is this woman still around?” asked MagFan.

“Because she is still to this day one of the very best top working high fashion models around. Her talent is even more obvious when she works against models, such as Gigi, Kendall, Kaia or Hailey,” replied Bertrando3.

“I’m so glad Joan has booked such a big cover. Was worried we were seeing less of her,” voiced Serend1pity.

SLFC simply wasn’t buying it: “Not feeling this at all. Certainly surprised to see Joan Smalls on the cover of Vogue Italia. Good team all around, but it just goes to show how bad it is at Vogue Italia when you can have all of this in place and yet still come out with a bad result.”

“I like Joan Smalls, always thought she was beautiful and makes for a terrific model, but this is just another forgettable Vogue Italia cover. There’s just…zilch going on here and I certainly don’t blame Joan,” complained vogue28.

“This magazine has become a joke,” declared anlabe32.
