Here at theFashionSpot, we have been obsessed with all-things ELLE France now for quite some time. After all, the magazine has ultimately filled the void that was once Vogue Paris. The title’s front covers toward the end of 2023 featuring Isabelle Adjani, Charlize Theron, Laetitia Casta, Keiona and Edita Vilkeviciute enthralled us to no end. Not even two whole months into 2024, Cailee Spaeny, Natalie Portman and Lucy Boynton covers have each had our undivided attention too.
ELLE France’s latest sees model and firm forum favorite Malgosia Bela take to the cover, as per the request of editor Véronique Philipponnat. Chris Colls is commissioned as cover shoot photographer for the occasion, with Hortense Manga reporting for styling duties. Malgosia strikes a pose in a shimmering Giorgio Armani look as she shoots a look over her shoulder to stare down Colls’ lens.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“I love Malgosia but that pose with those pants is awful. I’m sure there are better pictures inside!” voiced kokobombon the moment the cover struck.
“Chris Colls is incredibly one dimensional,” critiqued signifier.
Benn98 commented: “Full-body covers are already a hard sell for me, then there’s the awkward pose and slapped on coverlines. It’s a miss!”
“If you crop it until the hip, you would get a cheesy but more effective cover,” noted Xone.
“It’s a hard pass but Małgosia makes it work,” reasoned avonlea002.
Vogue28 went against the grain and said: “Immediately loved this upon first sight! I love the choice of the non-traditional cover image with Malgosia’s back toward us, and how I was able to recognize the Giorgio Armani outfit instantly. Very much a fan!”
