Supermodels (from any decade) will always and forever be a good idea. Whether it’s the 90s supermodels assembling on the covers of both American and British Vogue or modeling royalty Iman gracing the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia – we’ll take it. Making a much-welcomed appearance on Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam this month is Beverly Johnson, perhaps best known for becoming the first Black woman to grace the cover of American Vogue in August 1974. Johnson poses for photographer Tom Marvel for the occasion, profiled across a trio of celebratory covers. The 71-year-old pioneering beauty is dressed by stylist Cannon in pieces from Cucculelli Shaheen, Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent for Vietnamese Bazaar‘s April 2024 offering.

“0% effort from everyone. Wow…” expressed phungnam96 the moment the covers dropped.
“Kinda lazy,” oaklee91 chimed in.
“Where’s AB+DM when we need them?” asked vogue28. “hose two delivered such a flawless Harper’s Bazaar Arabia cover shoot with Iman, that this pales in stark comparison. What a disappoint, and a wasted opportunity. I’m dumbfounded as to how you can have a legend like Beverly Johnson, and do her a total disservice. There’s not one redeeming factor to this, except for the fact it’s wonderful to see Beverly Johnson.”
“Just a bit tacky, but I don’t mind. Seems very on-brand for Vietnamese Bazaar,” reasoned Srdjan.
Justaguy voiced: “What a beautiful surprise seeing Beverly Johnson on the cover! Way too much Photoshop and her hair and makeup is so severe, but she’s still gorgeous.”
