Clement Chabernaud, George Barnett & More Come Together for Sabato De Sarno’s Debut Gucci Menswear Campaign

In late 2023, Sabato De Sarno kick-started his tenure as Gucci creative director by overhauling the Italian fashion house’s campaign imagery.

The Italian designer called upon David Sims to help implement change, who captured Vittoria Ceretti for the studio-designed Fall 2024 season. Daria Werbowy was even even welcomed out of retirement for the Marina Chain jewelry campaign. De Sarno also commissioned Sims to lens his first official womenswear campaign for Spring 2024. It’s a repeat performance with the unveiling of the designer’s debut menswear collection for Fall 2024. The campaign unites newer faces from the male modeling wold, with some more familiar. Clement Chabernaud, Finn Collins, George Barnett, Joel Ortiz, Junyeong Baek, Martin Miller and Modou Wade comprise of the cast for the occasion, each making an appearance in the minimalist campaign series. The concept echoes the womenswear offering, with De Sarno’s cast captured within Sims’ photographic studio and posing against a simplistic studio backdrop.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“A pile of nothingness,” exclaimed a disinterested yslforever.

“So boring and bland, perfectly matching the talentless Sabato,” shared JoCaderone.

Sharing the same level of enthusiasm was vogue28. “So horrifically bland, lifeless, soulless ALL that. Hard to believe this is a campaign like a mega fashion house like Gucci. I can’t even say De Sarno needs to ditch David Sims because those Anthony Seklaoui campaigns were also… dull,” he pointed out.

“Why does this whole campaign feeling like a Gap or e-comm catalog in the 90s?” asked Imelaine.

“Clement and George are definitely the highlight of this campaign, it should’ve just been them. The clothes could honestly be Zara,” voiced mteb123.

“So happy for Clement and George. That’s it,” stated pradn.
