The Korean edition of W Magazine has very slowly but surely made its way onto our radar here at theFashionSpot. W Korea was ultimately blessed with our undivided attention back in May, when it unveiled a quartet of rather remarkable Amelia Gray covers. Paying tribute to “Women in Motion” for Volume #7 2024, editor Hyejoo Lee welcomes Anja Rubik (by Mok Jeong Hyuk), Julianne Moore (by Park Bae), Carla Bruni (by Hyea W. Kang), Yoona Lim (by Mok Jeong Hyuk) and Sohee Han (via the lens of Kim Shin-ae) as cover stars. Captured during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the women pose across an array of celebratory covers. In partnership with luxury group Kering, the ladies are styled in looks from Kering-owned fashion brands Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and Boucheron.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Love Anja and Carla’s covers,” admired Kimy Jo.
“Very nice cover stars,” Bertrando3 approved.
“Love them all. Nice styling,” enthused forum member Alquimista.
Sharing the same enthusiasm was vogue28. “Always a pleasure to see Anja Rubik but throw in Carla Bruni and Julianne Moore, and I am completely sold. All of the covers are great, love the photography, the styling, all the Saint Laurent and the sense of cohesion between the covers. Very nicely done, W Korea!”
Yet not everyone was so forthcoming. “So far, I don’t like any of the covers. I generally don’t accept this type of photography that could be taken by anyone who has a cell phone without the slightest bit of professional refinement,” critiqued DK92.
“Genuinely… how is fashion at its peak popularity and mainstream interest when it’s never been worse? Like.. are young people for real? The clothes, the photography, the art, the styling, it’s all so ugly,” called out aracic.
