The Fall/Winter collections are fabulous, but the Resort 2011 collections have us dreaming of St. Barts! Here are ten highlights from the runways that will have you planning your next vacation.

Think swimwear, even if sunning in St. Barts isn’t in your cards. Bottega Veneta’s Thomas Maier may have had his favorite wetsuit in mind when he created a collection full of fitted, body-hugging separates and dresses. Take a cue from Armani, and go the nautical route in this modern day version of the seersucker suit.

It’s getting cold and our hair is suffering from the dry weather. Hide your locks under a printed head scarf, like this one from M Missoni. An obi-style belt is a must-have Resort accessory. From Ports 1961 to Lanvin, we’ve seen this trend slowly develop over the last few seasons. Wear one over a blazer or cocktail dress, like this Just Cavalli model.

Stella McCartney‘s Resort 2011 collection is a breath of fresh air, literally. The designer showed her collection in a New York City garden, where models played chess, danced, and lounged about in lace and other fabrics synonymous with the holiday season. Traditionally speaking, white pants post Labor Day are a no-no, but there are no strict rules against white accessories. Take a cue from Salvatore Ferragamo, and offset white with neutrals.

Work the retro-chic style with a peplum skirt or dress. J. Mendel‘s ballet-inspired Resort collection is feminine, without being overly frilly. Cropped wide-leg pants are ideal for showing off your perfect pedicured feet, and look great with high-heel booties, too. Karl Lagerfeld made the crop pant cool in his lavish Resort 2011 show, which took place in St. Tropez.

Moschino Cheap & Chic showed off bows both prim, proper, and oversized. Holiday is all about parties, which means sequins are in order. Rebecca Minkoff’s Resort 2011 collection will both ease the day-to-night transition, and keep you balanced between casual and dressy attire.
