Summer heat calls for an equally hot playlist. Why not take a cue from the jet set and let your playlist hop from summer festival to summer festival so you can bop around to the hottest bands while on the beach or in the boardroom. Check out the videos below and subscribe to our Spotify playlist to have summer tunes at the ready.
Bleached – Next Stop
First up, one of the best-loved bands from SXSW. You’ve had all spring so you should really already have Bleached in heavy rotation. This is their latest single, Next Stop.
How To Destroy Angels – Welcome Oblivion
One of the can’t-miss acts of Coachella was Trent Reznor’s side project with wife Mariqueen Maandig, and no one had to miss it since they were also the most-talked-about livestream from the event. With Atticus Ross producing the light curtain seen in the live performance below, it was a sight as well as a sound to behold. The song has a 70s summer slow jam feel.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Sacrilege
The first single off their new album, they opened their set at Coachella performing this song with the Hollywood Gospel Choir. Check out a controversial Lily Cole in the video. The band will also be at the Firefly Festival.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us
Thrift Shop is already so overplayed, avoid annoying your friends by playing this far superior song. They’ll be playing at Sasquatch! in George, Washington, Bonnaroo and Made In America.
The Lumineers – Stubborn Love
Playing Coachella, Sasquatch!, The Governor’s Ball in New York and Bonnaroo, The Lumineers help you nurture your summer crush with this combination of catchy group sing and ballad.
Kanye West featuring Big Sean & Jay-Z – Clique
With his progeny being incubated in Kim Kardashian, there’s no escaping Kanye West this summer, so you might as well celebrate your clique with this bro anthem. Kanye will be not wearing his Givenchy skirt at The Governor’s Ball.
Paramore – Still Into You
We had to find a way to get this catchy single from the new self-titled album of this pop punk outfit on our list, and the band will be playing the Impact Festival in Poland in June and the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans this fall.
Twenty-One Pilots – Holding On To You
This two-man band has grown on us thanks to their dynamic stage show which can be seen at the Firefly Festival and Lollapalooza.
Lana Del Rey – Young and Beautiful
No one captures Daisy Buchanan’s insecurities better than Lana Del Rey with this song off of The Great Gatsby soundtrack. LDR always has a sultry summer vibe, but with lyrics like “Hot summer nights, mid-July, when you and I were forever wild,” you have to put this on repeat while you drowse on the beach.
Nine Inch Nails – Head Like A Hole
Yes, Trent Reznor makes our list twice. Sorry, we’re not sorry. With How To Destroy Angels‘ debut at Coachella and the recent announcement that a Nine Inch Nails album will be out before the end of the year, we’re foaming at the mouth for NIN performances at Lollapalooza, the Leeds and Reading Festivals in the UK and Made In America and Voodoo back home. Since the new music isn’t out yet, we went into the vault for this head-banging classic off of 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine.
