What to Do
Check out a sporting event or concert at Olympiapark, the site of the 1972 Olympic Games. It’s also a great place to relax and there are tracks to jog and pools. Also great for a relaxing afternoon is the sprawling park, Englischer Garten (bigger than Manhattan's Central Park). If you’re in Munich on a weekend head to the Viktualienmarkt, a food market that has been around since the early 19th century; you can buy everything from fruit to dairy to meats and there’s a beer garden. Museum-wise, the most well known are the Deutsches Museum, Alte Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne and Jüdisches Museum München. Right by the Jewish museum is the Ohel Jakob Synagogue, a beautiful synagogue which was symbolically inaugurated seven years ago on the 68th anniversary of Kristallnacht.
