4. Hairy Mannequins
American Apparel gave a firm thumbs-up to the au naturel woman when it used mannequins with pubic hair bursting out of its underwear in January this year. The confronting Lower East Side, New York store window stopped New York street traffic and caught the attention of many, forcing women to really question what the men in their life wanted that Valentine’s Day.
It was obviously a successful marketing ploy to put uncreative retailers to shame, but simultaneously embraced women’s “natural” features, pubes and all.
