The exhibit will open with the singer’s first mature solo album, Debut, and then proceed chronologically, highlighting eight full-length albums as well as notable collaborations with directors, designers and artists. Experimental music videos, instruments, a fictitiously biographical narrative written by Icelandic writer Sjón and a slew of outlandish costumes will all be on display, including Hussein Chalayan’s Airmail dress from 1999, Marjan Pejoski’s Swan dress from 2001 and Alexander McQueen’s Bell dress from 2004. The centerpiece of the show, however, revolves around Black Lake, a 10-minute “immersive music and film experience” that was created with director Andrew Thomas Huang and 3-D design leader Autodesk, and corresponds with the track of the same name off her 2015 album Vulnicura.
Björk will be open to the public at MoMA from March 8 to June 7, 2015, coinciding with her New York City tour dates for Vulnicura. In the meantime, check out the gallery below for our favorite Björk getups of all time.
