Rumor has it that singer turned design maven Victoria Beckham will be coming out with a handbag line to complement her dresses, jeans, and sunglasses.
The collection has been confirmed by a number of sources, although Beckham has yet to publicly discuss the extension.
Word is that the designer will be teaming up with lauded accessories designer Katie Hillier for the line of handbags.
Hillier has a namesake line which she started after honing her skills developing and designing accessories for Marc by Marc Jacobs and Luella, and the designer has amassed quite a cult following with her quirky line (now sold at Colette in Paris, among other influential boutiques).
No images or inspiration points of the collection have been released yet, as the line is said to still be in very early stages of development, but I imagine that Beckham will follow in the footsteps of Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa.
The design duo, like Beckham, have a very distinctive evening-focused aesthetic.
The Marchesa ladies approached their accessories in the same way that they approach designing dresses, and their first collection, which launched last spring, consisted of only clutches and evening cases that complemented the Marchesa gowns and cocktail looks.
One thing’s for sure, given Beckham’s to die for collection of handbags – which includes countless Hermes beauties – she has a lot to be inspired by.
