Mulberry S/S 2011: London Fashion Week

The brand’s theme is ruined in trying to ensure there are no surprises. Some of the allure is gone, despite the fact that the Mulberry show in London is usually a more grand operation.

Mulberry creative director, Emma Hill, has been keeping with the brand’s tradition of film-inspired looks from past seasons. Hill’s muse for the Spring 2011 collection was both the original and remake of Grey Gardens, and the classic film, The Secret Garden.

Seventies style silhouettes were bathed in a palette of colors pulled right out of a garden. A parade of conservative, yet playful girls emerged on the runway with bright red hair and, of course, puppies.

Mulberry’s popular accessories, such as this season’s Tillie bag that debuted as part of the pre-collection, were accompanied by high-waisted skirts and flirty party dresses.

With the recent influx of international editors attending London’s shows, does Mulberry ever really need to present in New York?
