Anna Sui Fall 2011 Runway Review

While some of the Anna Sui Fall 2011 Collection seemed a bit subdued for Sui, her signature rocker chick was as sexy as ever. Her line always has the feel of a real girl, someone with moods and different ways of dressing on different days, and always a big personality. (Perhaps that chance to show some personality is why supermodel/social media darling Coco Rocha flew in from London exclusively for Sui’s show.)

Some preppy schoolgirl looks with black, white and gray knits layered to perfection gave way to a colorstory more typical of the designer with neon green, bright orange and electric blue all coming down the runway. Tunics and tights, lots of layers layers layers, and another Sui signature combination of light chiffon printed fabrics with anchoring fabrics like wool or heavy knits. While they’re not the focus, it would be remiss not to mention Sui’s obvious talent for legwear – fun, must-have tights and knee socks finished off each look.

Sui definitely saved the best for last with a black, sparkly rocker chic story and a contrasting white, soft, boho trio. Black mini dresses were sequined in a tough way rather than an overly girly way, sometimes see-through, sometimes layered with velvet, fur and wool, and always with killer tights. The following white looks took us from goth rock to Woodstock with incredible details again layered with sequins and fur.
