The glossies are out and here’s a look at who landed some of the most notable covers and, more importantly, who got it right and who didn’t.
The Good:
Few magazine covers received as much attention this month as Lady Gaga’s Vogue debut. Looking stunning in a fierce popping pink bob and bordeaux lips, Gaga’s cover was a refreshing change from the stale covers Vogue has delivered as of late. While some may call her a Gaga impersonator, Nicki Minaj stayed true to her signature over-the-top look and pulled off a voluminous mane of hair, neon purple lips, aqua shadow, and high-impact lashes on the March issue of Blackbook.
Over at the Russian edition of Tatler, Maria Sharapova pulled off an adorable retro-romantic look in Nina Ricci and Stella McCartney, while the Russian edition of Elle shows Bar Refaeli in the season’s must have, orange lips (check-out Estee Lauder’s new Orange Crush collection to get this look).
Katy Perry kept the color-blocking trend and popping spring brights in motion on the cover of this month’s Elle in a refined Gucci look, while Victoria Beckham gives us her best sultry pose on the cover of Allure.
Speaking of sultry, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is out and with Irina Shayk on the cover, it’s hard to miss. It wasn’t all about the women, however, this month, Kanye West graced the March VMAN cover in a Prada jacket and Tom Ford shirt, proving once again that he can be counted on when it comes to impeccable fashion sense.
The Bad:
Speaking of miscalculated wardrobe choices, in what world should someone wear high-waist panties and a bra covered only by a cardigan on the cover of a magazine? Such was the case for this month’s Latina, which had the added misfortune of featuring Sara Ramirez in a cardigan that was ill-fitting. Surprisingly, Kim Kardashian was more covered up, though she was in her typical uber-made-up form on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The red-on-red cover was a bit of a snooze and would have been better timed for winter (for a better take on the red-on-red look check-out Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on the cover of this month’s Vogue UK).
