With the Royal Wedding behind us, there is just one major event that has the whole of London buzzing, the 2012 Olympics. Impending tourist hordes and traffic delays aside, the excitement surrounding the countdown is palpable; but what ever will they wear? Olympic kit is often subject to scrutiny but for Team GB, there was no better choice than Stella McCartney for adidas. Everyone from Zen yoga goers to hyped up spin class attendees has pined over McCartney’s collaborations with adidas and she has just launched the official Team GB lifestyle collection.
As Creative Director of the collection, McCartney will oversee the design of both the athletic wear and fan wear and to celebrate the release has collaborated with Director Jacob Sutton on a stunning short film entitled “You Don’t Know Them… But You Will” (below). If the collection didn’t have you itching to get to the gym already, seeing gold medal contenders Phillips Idowu, Louis Smith, Heather Fell, and Hollie Avil in the film will certainly do the trick. “Sport and style have always been the starting point for this collaboration,” says McCartney. “We wanted to take it to another art form for this collection by making a film and capturing the athletes in movement which is at the heart of this process.” The collection is available online and in select adidas stockists.
