Mississauga supermodel Daria Werbowy will be getting a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame this September.
Werbowy, who started modelling at the age of 14, has appeared in ads and on runways for such fashion houses as Hermes, Valentino, Missoni and Versace.
Other Canadian celebrities being honoured at the Sept. 6 ceremony include filmmaker James Cameron, comedy troupe Kids in the Hall, singer k.d. lang and basketball star Steve Nash.
Singer Bryan Adams and actor Michael J. Fox will also be onhand to unveil stars they received in previous years.
Werbowy, now 24, was born in Ukraine, but moved to Mississauga at the age of 3. Werbowy attended St. Sofia Elementary School and Cawthra Secondary School.
One website reported that she has said she is considering quitting modelling when she turns 25, to return home to Mississauga to paint and open a gallery. Last year, Forbes magazine listed Werbowy as the ninth-highest paid model in the world, earning $3.5 million.
