I found out backstage that the collection was inspired by angels, more specifically, an 1878 painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau titled A Soul Brought to Heaven. Fittingly, the collection was gilded, opulent, and rife with more hand embroidery, pleated tulle, beading, and piles of lace than one could take in after a single viewing.
While these pieces were made with angels in mind, it will certainly take a woman with confidence to pull them off without looking as though the dress is wearing her because when faced with such sartorial creations, it’s diffuclt to do anything other than ogle their equiste beauty.
