“Did NOT see this coming! After 15 years, Nicolas Ghesquière is leaving Balenciaga.” (Fashionista.com). What appeared to be a major fashion hoax Monday morning turned out sadly to be real. Balenciaga’s parent company PPR announced the surprising news, stating that the break up was a joint decision. While there is no word on why the two have decided to call it quits after rocking one of the most brilliant artistic relationships in the fashion world, or where Nicolas is heading next, find out how the rest of the Twittersphere took the news:
The usually outspoken Anna Dello Russo kept her reaction brief and a bit glum tweeting, “Balenciaga and Nicolas Ghesquière broke up.” V Magazine added, “Nicolas Ghesquière has announced his departure from Balenciaga at the end of this month. Please don’t cry.” Brothers Harry and Peter Brant reminisced, “He’s fashion’s most sought-after and influential figure. A true visionary, Nicolas Ghesquière. Balenciaga will never be the same without you.” Allure tweeted, “So sad to see Nicolas Ghesquière leave @Balenciaga—his futuristic vision extended into the beauty sphere, too.” Later in the day, Balenciaga bid adieu tweeting, “Thank you Nicolas for bringing back all Cristobal Balenciaga’s values and creativity.”

Speaking of calling it quits, Leonardo DiCaprio and his latest Victoria’s Secret girlfriend, Erin Heatherton, have decided to end things. While no one seemed or should be surprised at such news (as the A-list actor rotates Gisele lookalikes on a routine basis), here is what Twitter had to say: “Also sad but true: Erin Heatherton and Leonardo DiCaprio have split.” (Fashionologie). Dior’s loss, that’s all I’m saying.

And speaking of funky smells, the quirky high fashion Italian house Marni is releasing its first ever fragrance. Fashionista.com teases, “Marni is launching its first-ever fragrance, called (wait for it…).” Get ready for it guys and gals, because this one is a real doozy: “Marni’s first fragrance will be called Marni.” (Fashionologie). Hey, at least the ad is kind of interesting.
