Temperley London Spring 2014: A Sicilian-Inspired Collection

As part of London Fashion Week, Temperley London’s Spring 2014 runway show took place at the prestigious hotel The Savoy, with its front row attendees including Anna Kendrick, Olivia Palmero, and Paloma Faith. Former model Jodie Kidd was even amongst the audience.

Entitled Sicily, that’s exactly from where the inspiration for the collection was derived, with Temperley’s style notes explaining that she intended to capture the feeling of a Sicilian adventure with luxurious fabrics, detailed textures and delicate patterns and prints. The feel was relaxed luxury presented in rich voluminous silhouettes and new trapeze shapes.

The collection was intended to be a celebration of Temperley so far, and showcased fine examples of its romantically influenced aesthetics in a color palette including warm burgundy, pink and blush tones, in contrast to classic black and white, with a range of elegant mint numbers. The feminine feel was further defined in the choice of decoration, which ranged from chiffon flowers, orchid prints and lots of delicately placed glitter embellishment. Striking leopard and petal prints were a beautiful addition to the collection, which saw full length gowns with patterned upper bodices clash with flowing colorblocked bottoms.

Temperley’s gowns are always breathtaking, and there are always a few dresses in each of their collections for which everybody goes crazy taking pictures. This time, standout pieces had to include the clashed patterned gowns and a chiffon flower adorned black gown with matching oversized jacket.

The fashion pack seemed to be punting the collection’s choice of pink hue and intricate laser-cut hem detail as key trends for the season. It’s been yet another stunning collection from Temperley that we’ll no doubt enjoy seeing once again upon our favorite A-Listers.
