Bottega Veneta
Man bags and jogging pants never looked so chic as Tomas Maier gave sportswear the ultimate highbrow makeover with his men’s collection this season. In between the elevated sportswear staples, the designer showed leather outerwear, butter soft sweaters, lightweight coats and four-button suits with slim trousers.

Dolce & Gabbana
The ultimate in wearability this was not. Case in point: some of the models walked the runway wearing bejewelled crowns while others donned stud-embellished caps. As for the fashions, they included elaborate fur trimmed coats, heavily embellished sweaters and head-to-toe print suits, all of which were inspired by medieval courts after the Norman conquest of Sicily. Theater or a runway show? Hard to tell, but what it lacked in wearability it made up for in entertainment.

Salvatore Ferragamo
Judging by the number of man bags we’ve seen on the runway thus far this season, it seems that high-end designers will not stop until they’ve officially expanded their accessories lines to equally reach both sexes. Salvatore Ferragamo’s creative director Massimiliano Giornetti made a very strong case for them, however, showing them alongside his fitted collection of menswear, which included a new take on the traditional suit – styles that featured cropped jackets.

Jil Sander
Jil Sander has once again left her namesake label, but her design team turned out a solid collection of mostly boxy and slim silhouettes. While there were some fashion-forward touches like metallic and felt pants, the collection was at its best when sticking to classics like monochrome sweaters, cardigans and short sleeve tops.

Ermenegildo Zegna
It goes without saying that the suiting was impeccable at Ermenegildo Zegna, but this season it was all but overshadowed by the Stefano Pilati-designed outwear. Whether fitted and cropped, long and oversized, tufted or covered in plaids and checks, there were countless sophisticated options on deck.
