“To me, the ultimate American designer of the moment is Michael Kors,” said celebrity stylist Robert Verdi at last month’s filming of theFashionDish, a new original series from tFS. “I think he’s who the world imagines our design community to be. And to his credit, he’s had tremendous success in recent years. Obviously his company went public, he’s now a billionaire. But up until that, he was really on the brink, as those of us know from the inside track. It wasn’t easy for him all these years. And I have to say, I think his clothes are the clothes that women like to wear.”
“He knows his customer,” said Jaclyn Jones, Senior Womenswear Editor at WGSN. “It’s my favorite thing that I get to do, in all of Fashion Week. He has this very small international press conference. It’s thirty people in a room the day before his show sends. He stands there, he has models come in, show some of the looks, he has some of his accessories. And he tells you what his inspiration is, and talks you through everything — his fabric, his details. And he talks about his woman like I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. He knows who his girl is. ”
