Tucked off the High Line is perhaps one of our favorite spaces ever: Hoffman Hall at The High Line Hotel. A former seminary, the stunning room maintains its gothic architecture. Any collection shown here is a treat. But when it’s Timo Weiland, we’re perhaps extra thrilled. The design trio presented their menswear collection this morning — 15 or so looks that represent the best of East Coast meets West Coast.
We grabbed a minute with Alan Eckstein and Donna Kang, design director and head designer respectively, to talk about the clothes, their post-NYFW plans and tried our best to convince them to launch a pet line. Oh, the possibilities…
theFashionSpot: What was your inspiration for menswear?
Alan Eckstein: It’s all about our New York fans. It has a little bit of L.A. sprinkled in there. It has a little bit of Julius Shulman’s architectural pictures from L.A. from the 50s and 60s.
tFS: Are you guys gluttons for punishment — doing two different events during Fashion Week?
Donna Kang: It’s kind of intense, but we don’t know anything else. This is all we’ve done from the beginning.
Alan: I’m OK, it’s more on the women’s side. Men’s has much fewer looks, a little less alterations.
Donna: This season, I don’t know if we have a lot of alterations. We’re kind of done a week early.
tFS: So, you guys are ready for vacation?
Alan: She definitely is!
Donna: I want to have dinner.
tFS: Where are you going?
Donna: I’m going to Vancouver.
tFS: And what are you going to do when this is all over Alan?
Alan: I’m going to hang out with my dog and my girlfriend!
tFS: We want you to do a pet line!
Donna: Yes! I used to design dog wear when I was in school.
tFS: It’s going to be awesome!
