The CFDA has officially announced plans to launch New York Fashion Week: Men’s in July, but until then, these five emerging menswear designers are slated to show their collections this coming week. These guys are the new guard, and they mean business.

BACKGROUND: Ralph Lauren and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
AESTHETIC: New York streetwear through a Japanese lens.
FUN FACT: Hayama studied mechanical engineering at Waseda University in Tokyo.

DESIGNERS: Brothers Alex and Matthew Orley as well as Matthew's wife, Samantha Orley
AESTHETIC: Luxury knitwear with an irreverent design.
STREET CRED: Named as a finalist for the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award and the 2014 The Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in Menswear.
FUN FACT: The brand will debut its first womenswear collection this season during New York Fashion Week.
WILD CARD
BRAND: GARCIAVELEZ , set to launch for Fall 2015
DESIGNER: Carlos Garciavelez
BACKGROUND: Garciavelez is an author, designer and architect. He's previously worked at Alexander McQueen in London.
AESTHETIC: According to the brand's website, the collection will be "comfortably tailored clothing for the fast paced modern life."
STREET CRED: GARCIAVELEZ has been selected as part of New York Men's Day at Industria Superstudio on February 11, 2015.
FUN FACT: Garciavelez is currently a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he earned his master's in architecture.
