London Fashion Week Fall 2015 Hits and Misses: Part 1 (Forum Buzz)

The Misses: J.W.Anderson, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Matthew Williamson; Images: Imaxtree

THE MISSES:

J.W.Anderson

“The colour pairings here are lovely, and so is the intermixing of textures and volume. But those god awful boots ruin it entirely.” [LANZO_358]

“I can’t get over the fact that such a mediocre, unoriginal output gets as much attention as he did from the very earliest moment this guy hit the scene. There is clearly far better talent out there that could really go to extraordinary places with their inspiration, had they just a fraction of support and investment as this guy has been enjoying far too long.” [tricotineacetat]

“It’s hard to find much to praise when a lot of the individual pieces look far too literally 80s and the overall impression is one of things that simply don’t go together. Nor does it pack the kind of authoritative punch that can potentially change your eye. It’s just vintage crap layered over ugly crap with crappy shoes.” [Spike413]

Preen

“The start is just crazy. Needed editing down a lot.” [gossiping]

“There are a lot of details to unpack (lacing, lace, embroidery) and sometimes they are all packed onto one look, plus a print or two! There are definitely some nice pieces, as always, but some of the print/combos are a bit garish.” [Not Plain Jane]

“I prefer their work when it’s more subtle and elegant. This collection feels way too heavy and overthought for me.” [Wolkfolk]

Matthew Williamson

“Yet again, we have a collection wherein the pieces, individually, are wearable and nice. BUT, when styled and matched together, they looked tacky and overwhelming… I’m not saying it’s an ugly collection. It could’ve been a better one only if were styled better.” [MON]

“Bad styling!” [GIVENCHYlover]

“This is his best collection in years but that fur is awful – too overdone!” [gossiping]
