It looks like 2017 is off to a strong start with Ashley Graham getting her first British Vogue cover and Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga making a surprising appearance on the cover of American Vogue . Models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Doutzen Kroes, Milla Jovovich and Anna Ewers were also among those who killed it this month. Of course, there were the requisite Hadid appearances and no shortage of trite covers (sorry, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman). It’s also incomprehensible why so many glossies opted for summery looks (we’re talking bold, bright florals) for winter issues.
With that said, here’s a look at all the January 2017 magazine covers you need to know about.

The Glossies: All the January 2017 Covers We Loved and Hated
Vogue
Ruth Negga looks absolutely adorable in a refreshingly bright, yet still season-appropriate, cover.
Allure
Allure makes it hard to focus on anything besides Zendaya Coleman's pink lips and harsh brows.
InStyle
There isn't anything particularly "fresh" about this springy Sarah Jessica Parker cover.
ELLE UK
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley appears impeccably styled in this fitness-themed cover.
Vogue Russia
Understated yet dramatic, Doutzen Kroes kills it with her piercing eyes.
Vogue Korea
Milla Jovovich mesmerizes in this blue-hued shot.
Paper
Is this a MAC ad or a magazine cover?
Vogue UK
One of the month's most buzzed-about covers, Ashley Graham finally gets her much-deserved Vogue cover. We love it, even if she is wearing a somewhat unfortunate jacket.
Vogue Australia
Not only is this a trite expression for the actress, but what is Nicole Kidman wearing?
Vogue Japan
Anna Ewers slays while channeling the glory days of Claudia Schiffer.
W Korea
Bella Hadid looks a bit grumpy on this W cover.
InStyle Australia
Snooze.
Marie Claire
Not exactly what one wants from a winter glossy cover, but it's hard not to smile in the face of so much bright yellow!
ELLE
Doesn't this Michelle Williams cover make you want to cozy up fireside in an oversized sweater?
Essence
Now that's a braid we can get behind!
Cosmopolitan
Can Cosmopolitan do sexy without verging on trashy?
Glamour UK
Sure, she looks pretty, but there is absolutely nothing memorable about this Felicity Jones cover.
Vogue Germany
Cameron Russell's styling would cure any winter blues.
Marie Claire Australia
Australia's seasons are reversed, so we can forgive the summery feel of this Jennifer Aniston cover — but not that oddball cut-out.
ELLE Spain
Love her or hate her, Gwyneth Paltrow always manages to look effortlessly beautiful.
Candy
Candy enlisted transgender model/actress Hari Nef to guest edit its latest issue and the result is a refreshing series of captivating images.
Harper's Bazaar Spain
Proof that Hailey Baldwin's status as an It model is more likely a result of nepotism than talent.
