Supermodel progeny Kaia Gerber is about to add designer to her ever-growing portfolio. The 16-year-old model has collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld on a capsule collection for his eponymous brand, launching on August 30.
Kaia, who has walked the runway for Chanel and appeared in ads for Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, is no stranger to working with the famed designer. “I have loved being a part of the creative process and working with Karl is a dream,” Kaia says. “I’ve always thought that he’s a genius, so it’s amazing that he’s shown me some of his trade. It has given me a new appreciation for how hard designers work, and how much creativity and thought goes into every collection.”
Dubbed Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia, the capsule includes ready-to-wear and accessories that blend Karl’s Parisian chic aesthetic with Kaia’s youthful, independent attitude and L.A. style. The pieces, which include tuxedo blazers, biker jackets and little black dresses, will launch exclusively on Karl.com and will eventually be available at international e-tailers after a series of events in Los Angeles, New York and Paris, according to WWD. Prices range from $115 for fingerless gloves to $485 for a tuxedo blazer.
