Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Elizabeth and James brand broke the hearts of fashion fans everywhere when it announced it would shut down last fall after 11 years of being sold exclusively through Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Net-a-Porter. But hope is not lost because the twins have just inked a licensing deal to bring the brand to 1,150 Kohl’s stores nationwide.
It was a decision that they were happy to make. “We have always seen Elizabeth and James speaking to a much larger audience and this new business model with Kohl’s will allow us to achieve that,” Ashley Olsen said in a statement. “Mary-Kate and I are excited to work with them building out additional lifestyle categories and curating spaces that will bring a new shopping experience to our customer.”
Kohl’s will exclusively sell Elizabeth and James contemporary women’s clothing, handbags, jewelry and eyewear, while Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Net-a-Porter will continue to sell the brand’s popular fragrances. There’s no word yet on pricing, but we’re excited to see what the new partnership has in store for the brand.
