When news came down that the Resort 2021 shows were going to be canceled, no one was surprised. But designers still wanted to show off their wares. As is typical with these collections, the majority were presented in lookbook format. Although, even the lookbooks were a sign of the (troubled) times with some brands simply using their staff as models.
Wanting to stand out from the pack, Christian Dior still opted to stage its runway show in Lecce, Italy. There wasn’t the usual star-studded front row. Instead, it was showcased to a few potential clients and city residents.
When it came to overarching themes, florals were in full bloom. Not exactly groundbreaking for spring, but as a part of the Resort 2021 collections, it felt like a colorful reprieve from all the doom and gloom we’ve been experiencing lately. Another big trend? Suits. We’re not talking the straitlaced kind you usually used to wear to the office. No, these beauties were designed to make an impression courtesy of cut-outs, striped slacks and slouchy silhouettes. There was also tons of denim, ranging from acid wash to darker shades.
Since we know you have a lot on your plate right now, we went ahead and selected the must-see looks from the Resort 2021 collections.
