We’re already focused on September. Why? Well, that’s when everything happens. Fashion month kicks off, the Emmy Awards take place and magazines drop their September issues. So it’s not surprising that many publications opted to publish double editions for either June/July or July/August. There are some strictly August 2022 magazine covers, though. Unfortunately, they’re pretty lackluster.
The styling is a big reason why. The outfits all feel better suited to September. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference. Like the baseball cap topping off Emma Corrin’s look on American Vogue. Or the out of place brown belt securing Daisy Edgar-Jones’ striking dress on Marie Claire Australia. Then there are Stella Maxwell’s green gloves on Vogue Japan.
It’s the hair that really stands out. Allure naturally set its sights on beauty with Kim Kardashian sporting epically long blond braids. Bella Hadid rocks baby bangs for Vogue Spain. HoYeon Jung flaunts sculpted baby hairs via Vogue Korea. While Nicola Peltz Beckham poses for Tatler boasting a 60s-style updo.
Diversity is lacking. But British Vogue deserves a special shout-out for featuring “the faces of the LGBTQ+ revolution” on its pull-out cover.
Keep reading to uncover which August 2022 magazine covers are hits and which ones fall a little flat.
