This fall, whether you’re inspired by the 50s or want to rock the 80s, the ponytail is a hot look. This classic and simple style has been spotted on celebrities and on the runways.
The Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 show featured the ponytail tied high for a clean and polished look. Kim Kardashian kept the look sophisticated by simply hiding the elastic with a strand of hair. To keep the elastic band hidden, leave a strand of hair loose from the ponytail, so you can wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic.

Kate Winslet wore this similar style at the opening of the new Mario Testino exhibit at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. A ponytail – natural, easy, and fresh – showed off Winslet’s beautiful features. Remember not to pull too tight, so the ponytail has body without looking overdone.

The 80s-inspired side ponytail featured at the DKNY Fall 2010 show was smooth, modern, and edgy. A ponytail with cascading curls, as seen on Izabella Miko, brings out a soft, feminine touch. Rachel McAdams wore her ponytail with bangs, which added a cute, girly freshness. Jessica Szohr from Gossip Girl donned a quick and easy ‘do by wearing her ponytail swept off the face and tied back in a messy bunch.

A classic ponytail is perfect for work or a night in the city!
