Celebrity Trendspotting: Stars Stay Cool in Plaid

January Jones, Taylor Swift, Ashley Greene and other stars are embracing plaid as a way to stay comfortable and stylish. Stars flocked to the wardrobe staple this fall, but a palette of purples, pinks, and blues dominate the look for spring. These bold button-downs will have your rolling up your sleeves and embracing a rugged (but still feminine) look in no time!

Ashley Greene’s purple plaid shirt makes the Twilight star look effortlessly adorable. Her loose-fitting top works perfectly with black skinny jeans and a pair of simple flats. Add an “it” bag and the starlet has a laid back outfit, great for running errands or just grabbing coffee in Hollywood. January Jones matches her red plaid shirt with high-waisted flared jeans for a 70s look. Jones’ red sunglasses and messy ‘do let her colorful top steal the spotlight.

Kate Bosworth takes her love for plaid one step further with a ruffled top. The detail at Bosworth’s neckline really separate her button-down from the basic lumberjack-inspired prints. Paired with a bright red handbag, Bosworth struts around New York City looking extra cool. Taylor Swift accessorizes a bright blue plaid tunic with a wide brown leather belt. A thin headband sits across the singer’s forehead to make this look extra hip. Swift balances the boldness of her tunic with simple black jeans for a slimming, streamlined effect.

When Megan Fox graced the pages of Nylon Magazine in October, little did we know she’d be starting a serious trend! Fox posed in an oversize pink and blue plaid shirt, left open to reveal a printed tank top. Take a tip from the actress and layer on plaid to add a splash of color to any monotone outfit. Kristen Stewart crops her plaid shirt by tying it at her waist. Without wearing a stitch of makeup, Stewart is able to look effortlessly cool with the help of her plaid and a pair of Ray-Bans.
