Blake Lively: Red Carpet vs. Runway Retrospective

Blake Lively has been on everyone’s best dressed lists lately, and for good reason; the leggy Gossip Girl starlet has incredible taste and isn’t afraid to try bold statement gowns that less daring celebs might shy away from. Plus, her supermodel figure means she can dress practically right off the runway. Amazingly, Lively has stated many times that she does not use a stylist—although her close friendship with Christian Louboutin and Karl Lagerfeld can’t hurt her style. Here’s a look at some of her best red carpet looks from the past few months and the runway designs that inspired them.

In October, Lively dazzled at Spike TV’s Scream 2010. Her slate gray halter gown with leather harness and a slit up the front was from the Lanvin Spring 2011 collection—the voluminous skirt created a beautiful effect when both Lively and the model walked.

Lively dressed down an elegantly draped mini-dress (and theFashionSpot forum favorite) from the Dior Pre-fall 2010 collection with a leather jacket and opaque tights at Vertu’s smartphone release in NYC. She chose a more fun raspberry color than the subdued mint on the model.

The star’s look at the launch of Lorraine Schwartz’s jewelry line 2BHAPPY was solid gold—her sleek hairdo didn’t detract from her body-con Versace fringe bustier dress from the Spring 2011 line.

At a Warner Brothers Presentation at Caesar’s Palace, Lively looked white-hot in a silk and lace dress from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011 collection. Her loose waves, basic blazer, and booties completed an outfit that was more laid-back than the runway look.

Lively loves Marchesa; she stepped out in a purple puff-sleeved dress with ruffles and a lace bodice from their Spring 2011 collection to the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Gala, and wowed the crowds in a short and fiery red lace mini-dress with a ruffled tutu skirt from the Fall 2011 collection at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards.
