If only we were the stylist, Cobie Smulders would be smoldering, Nicole Kidman wouldn’t be washed out, Sarah Jessica Parker would sack the sack dress, and other celeb style fixer-uppers. Fix #1: Fire Your Makeup Artist, Andrea Riseborough
If We Were the Stylist, Andrea Riseborough Wouldn't be Frowning Over her Botched Beauty Look (& Other Celeb Style Fixes)
Fix #1: Fire Your Makeup Artist, Andrea Riseborough
Actress Andrea Riseborough is one of those fair English roses who can easily pull off the Rooney Mara ‘pale fire’ look without looking ghostly—that is unless she keeps using whoever did her makeup for the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards. A white dress was the perfect choice for her dramatic coloring, but it looks as if her makeup artist decided to match it with white face powder and then bring some health back to her face painting her cheeks with heavy strokes of blush—and unfortunately the whole effect was too Queen Elizabeth I.

Fix #2: Cobie Smulders Doesn't Smolder
… in this jumpsuit at least. I had a very hard time believing that the extremely unflattering jumpsuit that Cobie Smulders wore to the premiere of Safe Haven was by YSL, but even designers (and usually-on-point actresses) make missteps sometimes. The whole thing pulls in the wrong places, especially the low belt which should’ve hit her right at the natural waist. It didn’t help that the How I Met Your Mother actress weighed down the deep V neckline with a heavy brooch and added an incongruously edgy Perrin Paris glove clutch (which sort of just made her look like she was wearing a cast on her hand).

Fix #3: Nicole Kidman is Washed Out
While I’m not a huge fan of the is-she-or-isn’t-she (wearing a skirt) look, I wouldn’t have hated Nicole Kidman’s gold lace Vera Wang dress at the Grammys if it had been in another color. As it is, her dress, skin and hair all match to the point where the look falls flat. While I know that some readers will eat this dress up, I would’ve liked the gorgeous Kidman to leave the barely-there lace look to Kristen Stewart and go with a punchier color, which would’ve played up the drama of the sheer overlay.

Fix #4: Overall, Shailene Woodley's Look Loses
Shailene Woodley definitely has that laid-back ‘my manager made me dress up for this event’ thing down—and when she’s doing structured separates or menswear-inspired looks on the red carpet, it really works. As her scuffed boots suggest, the weather at Sundance definitely permits a more casual vibe, but I don’t think overalls should be anywhere on the dress code—no matter which trends Alexa Chung tries to get started.

Fix #5: Get Rid of the Gloves, Rosario Dawson
The glowing Rosario Dawson just didn’t glow at Lambertz Monday Night, a German fashion event where models wear dresses made out of chocolate. Though the theme may be a bit whimsical, Dawson’s negligee-like black satin dress read costumey with her addition of 3/4 length gloves—the actress was one plastic tiara away from looking like a little girl dressed up for a ‘glamorous’ birthday party.

Fix #6: Sack the Sack Dress, Sarah Jessica Parker
One day the lady’s style is inscrutable, and the next day she wears a rumpled satin bed sheet with shedded snakeskin as a scarf—and to the amfAr Gala of all ‘knock ‘em dead’ fashion events.
