The last big award show of the year, the American Music Awards, took place on Sunday, November 23rd and the night was all about glitz, glamour, and sequence.
The AMA’s were created in 1973 by Dick Clarke and today are considered to be one of the “Big Three” when it comes to music awards (the other being Billboard Music Awards and the Grammy Awards) and though this year was touted as “the year of the women,” Chris Brown and Kanye West were the night’s big winners as far as trophies. When it came to fashion however there were some serious winners and losers.
The adorable Natasha Bedingfield’s outfit, a menswear-inspired satin suit, looked somewhat ill-fitted and slouchy.
Queen Latifah made an unfortunate choice with a nothing if not unflattering metallic, one shoulder number that looked a few sizes too small.
Leona Lewis, Pink, and Taylor Swift were decked-out in one of the night’s big trends – sequins.
Alicia Keys went Grecian in a one shoulder blue gown.
Ashley Tisdale was all about the tulle in a short dress that looked like an 80’s take on a prom dress.
Annie Lennox went casual in a top hat, t-shirt with the word “sing” emblazoned on it, and loose-fitting black pants.
Rihanna took a chance in a cutain-like strapless light yellow asymmetrical frock.
Christina Aguilera showed-off a new hairdo and, for better or worse, lots of sparkle.
Miley Cyrus showed-off a nice, if inappropriate given her age, black and gold number.
Sarah Silverman went frumpy and simple with a white blouse and black vest.
