The fashions at the Golden Globes were predictably understated with most of the night’s big stars opting for pastels, gray, off-white, beige, and similarly neutral colored gowns and separates. Makeup was kept natural and jewelry was tame as well.
That said there was some shockingly wild hair – most notably Renee Zellweger and Drew Barrymore. Zellweger went for dramatic pinned-up curls to accompany her daring two-piece Carolina Herrera number, while Barrymore showed off her figure in a John Galliano for Dior gown with an 80-esque hairdo. The outfits and styling of both stars were misses for me, but at least unlike most of the night’s stars their looks stood-out.
Some of the ladies who opted for color were Freida Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire who wore a gold and green Christian Lacroix gown, Cameron Diaz who wore a fun, flirty pink taffeta Chanel Haute Couture dress which she complemented with Chanel Fine Jewelry, and Debra Messing in a sapphire ruffled Vera Wang gown.
