On the fourth day of September in the year of our Lord 2017, pop goddess Beyoncé completed her 36th trip around the sun. To commemorate the occasion — and raise awareness for
#BEYGOODHOUSTON, the Queen’s initiative to give back to her
hurricane-torn hometown — Beyoncé’s close friends and family posed for a “Formation”-inspired photoshoot.
Now live on
Beyoncé’s personal site, the series shows 18 ladies near and dear to the singer’s heart rocking her most iconic “Formation” look. You know the one: extra wide-brim black hat, long braids, Nefertiti-worthy neck attire, off-the-shoulder black top, deep berry-red lip.
Among the models are Bey’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter, mom Tina Knowles Lawson, Destiny’s Child group mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, protégés Chloe and Halle Bailey, mother-in-law Gloria Carter and half-sister Bianca Lawson, as well as former First Lady Michelle Obama, tennis pro Serena Williams and songwriter Angie Beyincé.
While
Jay-Z asking the Made in America crowd to serenade Mrs. Carter currently tops our list of cute things people did in honor of #BeyDay, this charity-minded #blackgirlmagic-filled photo shoot ranks a very close second. Click
here to fulfill Beyoncé’s birthday wish and help out her hometown; scroll through the slideshow below to check out the shoot.
