On April 30, the documentary Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Named after the wash-and-wear polymer ultra-microfibers fabric made popular by Halston in the 1970’s, Ultrasuede details the rise and fail of America’s first celebrity designer.
Footage of Halston’s runway collections, television appearances, and interviews by Diane Von Furstenberg, Andre Leon Talley, Pat Cleveland, Angelica Huston, Bob Colacello, Liza Minelli, Ralph Rucci, Naeem Khan, Billy Joel, and countless others round out director Whitney Sudler-Smith’s homage to this fashion icon who revolutionized the way the modern American woman dressed.
