You don’t have to know me very well to know that I’m obsessed with two things: Barry’s Bootcamp and talking about moving to Miami. Luckily, Barry’s will be opening a location in South Beach at the end of the year. Needless to say, I will be ditching the NYC cold for Florida come New Year’s Eve. Ironically, my fashion sense is about as far as you can get from the typical Miami look. A good friend of mine took me to Soho Beach House for their New Year’s party last year and it felt like I was the only one not in a bandage dress or some derivative thereof. It didn’t matter though, the key is to balance staying true to your personal style with looking appropriate given your surroundings.
A few months ago, during New York Fashion Week, I saw a woman wearing this tuxedo Marissa Webb top. I became obsessed with it and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it. Unfortunately, the only thing Miami about it is that it’s somewhat sheer, so I’m pairing it with a fitted skirt from Zara, Sergio Rossi Uptown Black Suede Pumps (you can wear these pain-free for hours and they go with nearly any outfit), a classic McQueen cocktail ring and the Reece Hudson Bowery Clutch, which I happened to have picked up at the Barneys Co-Op the last time I was in Miami.
It’s definitely not your typical Miami outfit, but I think I’ll fit in just fine!
