In the too-often-overlooked world of socks, innovative brands like Wolford, COS and Stance reign supreme. The latter has made a name for itself via collaborations with popular athletes, performers and cultural influencers whom they refer to as the “Punks & Poets.” Among these icons is master of brand blending Rihanna, whose fourth Fenty for Stance collection dropped today.
The 10-piece range of socks and hosiery features the R&B siren’s characteristic Japanese street punk-informed aesthetic. In creating the standout styles, RiRi referenced vintage kimonos, traditional calligraphy and the country’s native lotus flowers. Colors range from deep blues and burgundies to the flirty feminine pastels that walked the runway of her Spring 2017 Fenty for Puma collection (i.e. mint, coral and sherbet). As far as pricing goes, a pair of socks will run you $16, except the Lotus Japan style, which retails for $28.
“This is our fourth collaborative project with Rihanna and she continues to surprise us with her creative approach to the category,” Candy Harris, EVP of the Lifestyle Division at Stance, said of the collab. “Each collection brings unexpected twists, and in true Rihanna form, this season is no exception.”
Right in step with her innovative approach to fashion, RiRi enlisted L.A.-based illustrator Bijou Karman to create an anime-esque campaign showcasing the collection.
