Stacks of Weighty Jewelry
Tracee Ellis Ross-style rings for every finger, layers upon layers of chain, pendant and nameplate necklaces, heaps of bracelets — in 2017, our whole "more is more" thing will extend to jewelry. And we're not talking dainty chokers and sweet stackers — think bejeweled, chunky accents.

Platform Shoes
The bigger the platform, the closer to God. (That's how the saying goes, right?) Between Marc Jacobs' raver boots and Leandra Medine's drool-worthy new shoe collection, our sneaker-infused shoe closet is about to hit the next level. Alessandro Michele is even making Spice Girls-worthy low-top platforms (and that's just an observation, not a cosign).

Stirrup Silhouettes
In 2016, trousers were all the rage, as were unconventional hemlines. Stirrup pants are the next natural progression. The equestrian-inspired silhouette, a favorite of 80s and 90s workout/athleisure gear, is overdue for a comeback. (Just ask cool-kid boutique The Frankie Shop, stylist Aleali May and, again, Alessandro Michele.)

Doll-Like Dresses
For Spring 2017, Jason Wu, Creatures of the Wind, Zimmermann, Marc Jacobs and more were all about girly, doll-like dresses. Up-and-coming Australian label Daisy (who outfitted Kim Kardashian for her recent Wonderland shoot) seconds designers' motion for more tea parties in 2017. As do we.

Corsets and Bustiers Over Just About Anything
Lingerie-inspired dressing is here to stay and the corsets-over-just-about-any-crew-cut-or-button-up-top look is set to replace 2016's ubiquitous spaghetti-straps-over-white-tee trend. As a bonus, this layering technique is better suited to pattern mixing and frigid weather. (Intentionally underwired shirts that mimic bustiers will also be a thing.)

(Much) Shorter Hair
In 2017, cooler heads will prevail. As evidenced by the Golden Globes' red carpet and Amandla Stenberg's new blond buzz, many celebs and #influencers commemorated the end of 2016 like one would a breakup — by hacking off their hair. Plus, according to Pinterest's data, the popularity of shorter hair is on the rise.

All Forms of Fishnet
Diamond-patterned hosiery, a favorite of 20s flappers, punks, pinup girls and the Kardashian clan, made its way into the style zeitgeist in 2016. In 2017, fishnets will take on new, more inventive forms — think pants, shirts, socks, tank tops, etc. They're sexy, they add a little edge to any outfit and they (kind of) help keep you warm — we'll take it.

Strong Shoulders
Eighties-style tailoring is back (per Marc Jacobs, Olivier Rousteing, Jeremy Scott and David Koma). Give retro, strong-shouldered jackets a modern update — pair them with distressed denim and fresh accessories (statement sunnies or, in Kim K's case, a lip ring).

Natural Beauty
Last year was the year of the exposed nipple and the no-makeup (full stop) movement. In 2017, we expect the trend toward natural beauty to follow a more subtle course — implied but not visible nipple, day-old hair, etc.

Coordinated Separates
They're work-appropriate, they make getting dressed easy, they can be made to look modest (with the addition of a turtleneck) or sexy (with nothing but skin underneath). For Spring 2017, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Eckhaus Latta, Tory Burch and Creatures of the Wind made the case for fashion-forward two-piecers and the trend's catching on. Brace your eyes and closets for an influx of stylish suiting.

Bell Sleeves
According to Pinterest, bell-sleeve tops are the new off-the-shoulder tops. The trend is now up more than 300 percent in popularity. If you love a statement sleeve, but were burned by the infidelity of your off-the-shoulder companions, may we suggest balloon or accented sleeves instead?

Hands-free bags didn't get quite as much traction as we predicted they would in 2016, but 2017 is definitely their year. Theory, Osklen, and stylist and Vogue staple Mellany Sanchez are making sure of it.

Anoraks
Outerwear is in desperate need of a new silhouette, fashion is trending toward athleisure (yes, still) and modesty. Enter the anorak. Waist-length or calf-length, rain-resistant or purely for show, anoraks will be everywhere come spring thaw. DKNY, Nicole Miller, Alexander Wang, Dion Lee and Concept Korea support our theory.
